The DR-07 And The Three Legged Table

Well, it's been quite a day.

Woke up about 10, and while the idea of lounging around was incredible nice, we didn't screw around in getting out to Guitar Center for the Fourth Of July sale - particularly because they had the Tascam DR-07 listed as a sale item, but without a marked price.

I'd looked at these months ago, really wanting to get a digital recorder, particularly being interested in the pricey DR-100, although the DR-07 had been recommended to me from a local taper. All this time I've managed to hold off - but we weren't going to let this opportunity pass. Before we left, we both mentioned how it'd be sweet, and a no brainer if it was $100. Which seemed like a pipe dream somewhat, given I've seen it between $179 and $279 (the list price) when doing some research on it.

So, you couldn't stop me from rushing to the counter when we walked in and there was a sign inside the store for it, for $99! S-w-e-e-t! So there was no need to toss up whether we could / should get it. Waiting and not having just brought it on a whim months ago certainly has paid off.

From there we stopped by Albertson's to stock up some cheap potato chips, did some backing, then hit up the Pride on McClintock for gas, and a free soda. Those free sodas rock, especially in this heat.

It was then back home, where we did a massive, and impressive cleanup. Followed by an attempt to fix the Ikea table that has been standing on three legs since we first put it together, god knows how many months ago. Katie had discovered a method of using match sticks to fix combat against stripped threads in wood furniture. What followed was a valiant 3 or so hour effort to get the thing fixed. With some failed attempts, we put some popsicle sticks into the mix, which really made a difference, but at the end of the day, it was effectively a fruitless venture, thanks to the hollow design of the Lack tables. It was a fairly entertaining 3 hours though. [smile]

Of course, we're not ones to admit defeat. Once we determined that there was no way we were going to fix it with ingenuity, it was time to switch tack - to brute force. With a tube of super glue. Within 30 seconds our 3 legged Lack table woes were solved. [smile] While it would have been cool to have gotten it fixed by creating our own screw thread, the end result of having the table fixed, even with super glue was just as rewarding.

Once all was said and done, it was about 10pm. And really felt like we'd been going since the moment we got up. Which is pretty much because we had. But with that, it was kinda a relaxing Saturday despite the fact we were on the go all day.
