Drinking At Noon / The Vegas Strip

Woke up at about 10:30 and played some phone tag with Chris.

Photobox ImagePretty cool meeting up with Chris. After a smoke, we retired to a bar inside the Bellagio foyer at about midday and started drinking and chatting. And continued to do as such for next four an a half hours. Chris' dedication to trying as many beers as possible while over here is nothing short of impressive. Clearly I'm a bit out of practice, not having a hope of keeping up with him.

Photobox ImageWe both retired back to our rooms around 4:30, to meet up later for dinner. Part of me wanting to hit the strip, as Katie and I had a lot we wanted to do this weekend, but the last 4 and a half hours of drinking had us both a bit tired. So we decided to go back to the hotel for a bit. And hence had a relaxing 3 hours watching Mythbusters episodes in bed. At about 8, we decided that we needed to get out and do something. Which I was completely behind, but also felt lethargic as hell. So, we headed back out, parked at the Bellagio again, and decided to take a walk around hearing from Chris.

Photobox ImageWe ended up walking down to a McDonalds and Panda express that Katie had mentioned on the way in - her memory of it was that it was in L.A, and I had no memory of it at all. However, early today we noticed it on the strip. So we decided to walk down there to see if it triggered my memory at all. On getting down there, I had absolutely no recollection of it. Which just goes to how I was as sick as hell the last 2 days in Vegas last time - which was admittedly also 5 years ago. But we had a great time walking down that side of the strip. Ducking in an out of the casinos down there was cool, and I liked that we were doing something different - although, according to Katie, a lot of them we HAD been past or in - again, completely no recollection on my part.

Photobox ImageAround 9 I spoke to Chris - as it turned out, I was not getting any of his text messages, and they were about to order food. Given how long it'd take us to get back to the Bellagio, it wasn't practical to try make dinner. An unfortunate turn of events, no doubt thanks to problems with international phone carriers. In any case, we headed back down the strip to find a place to eat. Sammy Haggar's Cabo Wabo Catina was on the cards, but we ended up going for a Hawaiian themed cheese burger place instead, because neither of us actually felt like Mexican tonight. Air conditioning, food, drink at sitting was pretty damn awesome, I must say - especially at 10:30 at night.

From there, we headed back out to the strip, and were considering going back to the hotel - after all, we wanted to get up early to get a bunch of stuff done tomorrow - but decided that we wanted to go check out Circus Circus, which neither of us have done before. so, it was back over to the Bellagio (seeing that hourly fountain show for the third time tonight in the process) to get the car.

And we're here, in Vegas. Driving in to the Strip at night is pretty amazing. It's pretty amazing during the day too actually, but. Y'know, there is just something really exciting about Vegas. After driving 5 hours and being tired, the sight just makes you want to party! We're not going to, but that's the sort of power Vegas has. [smile]

The location of our hotel is awesome! We knew it was close to the Hard Rock Hotel, but I didn't realize just how close! It's like old times! The room is pretty sweet for what we paid, and the location is amazing! Just over a mile from the Strip.

A nice thing right now is limited cable TV, and The Soup. There isn't that much I miss about cable, but The Soup is absolutely one of those things.

Looking at the in room magazines, a big ad for The Gun Store has caught our attention. I want to go and shoot a sub machine gun tomorrow! [smile] ha. No, seriously, I could! "Disneyland for adults" according to the ad. Ahhh, Vegas!
