The Dam Would Break

Photobox ImageHeaded down to Tempe Beach Park to check out Tempe Town Lake, sans the dam bursting. I guess it happened 2 weeks ago, sometime around my birthday. I hadn't thought it'd have been that bad, and was surprised with all the talk about it. Until I saw it today - wow, pretty much from Tempe Beach Park all the way east, the river bed is dry. And hence, it looks like a monumental fuck up.

With the lake emptied - and don't get me wrong, I like Tempe Town Lake, it does make you think how stupid it is to dam a natural river to make a lake - in a desert city!

Photobox ImageAs it was a really nice day, we walked all the way down to the west dam (the one that broke), and checked out the Arts Center, which was cool since we haven't been done there before. As much as it was a "nice day" in comparison to what it's been, we were pretty damn hot (and getting somewhat burnt) by the time we made it down to the Arts Center.

After a bit of a chill out, we headed back to the car, via the Ash Avenue bridge. The informational sign in front of it was gone, I don't know if that means they're close to starting work on it or not. I would like to hope that fixing the lake would take away from the bridge rehabilitation budget - but that's probably just wishful thinking.
